Ever been frustrated? Ever had a conversation with someone and been so surprised or put-off by what they said that you didn’t know how to even respond? Ever had somebody say something so off-the-wall that the only thing you could muster out of your lips was….”Uh….yeah”?
I’ve had a few of those lately. I’ve had moments like that with my kids, with people at church, with people who I’m paying to serve me, and even random strangers. Seriously, I don’t think I’m slow witted, but I do know sometimes the only response I have is “Uh…..yeah”
And guess what?
When it comes to living in relationship with God, to actually knowing Him and what He’s saying to you. When it comes to obeying God even in the unexpected, weird, what-are-you-thinking kind of moments, all God wants from you is that simple response, “Uh….yeah” because it says something.
It says – I trust you. I believe you. I obey you. I don’t need to understand anything beyond what you’re asking right now. I don’t need to know what’s going to happen or how it’s going down. I trust you.
So next time God hits you up with a “strange” request, next time He challenges you to do something that catches you off-gaurd or doesn’t make sense. It’s fine if your answer is nothing more than, “Uh….yeah”
I am so excited about some of the things coming up at Discovery Church this fall and this series is one of the reasons. Starting Sunday, September 12th, we’ll kick it all off. Not only will we spend Sundays going through 2 Timothy, we’ll also be doing whatever we can to get EVERYONE involved in a small group. Then we’ll take those small groups and have them all compete against each other in an AMAZING Race style competition that includes service projects around Greenville. The winning group will get a huge 8 bedroom mountain home for the weekend of October 22-25!
Why am I telling you about this now? Because we want to STRONGLY encourage everyone to get The AMAZING Race T-shirt. Now before you start thinking we’re just out here peddling tees, let me explain. This isn’t just about Discovery. We still want to make a difference and an impact in the community around us. So imagine the impact of 100′s of people showing up to do a service project challenge. Then add to that 100′s of people all wearing the same shirt when they do it. It will gets people’s attention and will very likely lead to questions and opportunities to tell people why we’re doing what we’re doing – not just because we’re in The AMAZING Race, but because we love Jesus!
So here’s what you do. Just GO HERE and pre-order your shirt. You’ve only got until August 30th though so don’t wait!
Look, loads of people are struggling to make ends meet and worried about how to make sure they’ve got enough money. It doesn’t have to always be that way…you can have financial peace, you just might need to make some changes first. Here’s a great place to start
There’s a short preview class after church this Sunday at Discovery Church. If you want peace in your financial life, you need this class.
