I am so excited about some of the things coming up at Discovery Church this fall and this series is one of the reasons.  Starting Sunday, September 12th, we’ll kick it all off.  Not only will we spend Sundays going through 2 Timothy, we’ll also be doing whatever we can to get EVERYONE involved in a small group.  Then we’ll take those small groups and have them all compete against each other in an AMAZING Race style competition that includes service projects around Greenville.  The winning group will get a huge 8 bedroom mountain home for the weekend of October 22-25!

Why am I telling you about this now?  Because we want to STRONGLY encourage everyone to get The AMAZING Race T-shirt.  Now before you start thinking we’re just out here peddling tees, let me explain.  This isn’t just about Discovery.  We still want to make a difference and an impact in the community around us.  So imagine the impact of 100′s of people showing up to do a service project challenge.  Then add to that 100′s of people all wearing the same shirt when they do it.  It will gets people’s attention and will very likely lead to questions and opportunities to tell people why we’re doing what we’re doing – not just because we’re in The AMAZING Race, but because we love Jesus!

Politics can be a very volatile topic.  This past Sunday, I asked Steve to speak on the topic.  I think Steve did a great job applying the letter of Philemon to the area of politics.  And of course, hearing the story his wife shared, put a face to one political issue, without really turning it into a charged political environment.  Enjoy.
